During the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783), the patriot Jonathan Wellington “Mudsy“ Muddlemore and his pet cat Boo hid in a grandfather clock to escape arrest by the Redcoars. Unfortunately for them, they could not escape the clock and suffocated to death while trapped inside. In the 20th century, teenage girl April Stewart and her two prospective boyfriends Skip Gilroy and Augie Anderson are traveling the country in their dune buggy. Searching for a place to spend the night, they enter the long-abandoned house of Muddlemore. Around midnight, they notice the grandfather clock displaying the wrong hour and try to set it right. These releases the ghosts of Muddlemore and Boo, who befriend the teenagers. Afterwards, the teenagers act as amateur detectives, investigating mysteries which they encounter in their travels. Muddlemore lends a helping hand in their investigations.

The Phantom (1943) is a Columbia Pictures 15 chapter serial starring Tom Tyler in the title role. The serial is based on Lee Falk's comic strip The Phantom. The serial also features Jeanne Bates as the Phantom's girlfriend Diana Palmer, and Ace the Wonder Dog as the Phantom's trusty German shepherd Devil (who is a wolf in the original comic). Professor Davidson plans an expedition to find the Lost City of Zoloz. The location of the city is contained on seven pieces of ivory, three of which Davidson already possesses. Doctor Bremmer, however, intends to find the lost city and use it as a secret airbase for his unnamed country. To remove him as an obstacle, he kills The Phantom, only for his recently returned son, Geoffrey Prescott, to inherit the family identity and take over the mantle of The Phantom. Three of the remaining ivory pieces are owned by Singapore Smith, who initially steals Davidson's pieces. The seventh, and most important, piece is missing at first but turns up in the possession of Tarter (which The Phantom acquires by wrestling Tarter's pet gorilla). Funky Fables (“Ponkikki Meisaku World”) was a segment of the ‘Hirake! Ponkikki’ which adapted various classic stories. In the early 90s the show was dubbed into English by Saban Entertainment.

Ace Anderson and Dick Kowalski are two semi-competent cops in San Francisco during the late 1970s. They show more attention towards appearing cool and disco dancing, but finish the cases by the end of the day. They are assisted by their disgruntled police chief Captain Dobbs, plucky reporter Miss Lee, and fellow disco lover Boogaloo.

Funky Squad was a short-lived 1995 Australian comedy television series which satirised 1970s-era U.S. police television dramas, such as The Mod Squad. Only 7 half-hour episodes were produced, which were broadcast on the ABC. Real television commercials from the 1970s were shown during the program's "commercial breaks".The show featured four "funky" undercover detectives: undetectable as police, given their "hipness". The conclusion of each episode was deliberately designed to be incredibly predictable: usually the perpetrator of the crime under investigation could be identified within the first few minutes of the episode.Before the television series, Funky Squad originally aired as a series of episodes on radio station Triple M. Rob Sitch, who played Grant, was replaced by Tim Ferguson when the series went to television.
